The time has finally arrived and it is everything I could have ever hoped for. I feel like I have been waiting for new music from Ms. Pink for the longest time. The last album Pink released was in 2012 and yes I know that she distracted us with the You + Me album (her collaboration with City and Colour) and though that album was amazing, I was still craving real Pink music and it is finally here!
Ellen Degeneres reached out to Pink so that she could write the new theme song for her show and although positive, happy music isn’t Pink’s style she gave it a shot and brilliantly executed the task. The song fits right into Ellen Degeneres’s talk show as well as the song is able to stand on its own as a single.
Let every pop artist take notes because it is possible to write pop music with an actual message (I feel like most main-stream artists missed that memo). Pink has been previously known for her empowering anthems and this is no exception.
I’ve spent enough time alone
Up in my bedroom at home
Been kinda bored lately
I’ve been hating everything I see
But you could watch me
You could help me down the rabbit hole with you
I could go with you
You could lead the way I’d go hand in hand with you
“Today’s The Day” is the kind of song that will have you holding a solo dance party in your car and the chorus is sure to get stuck in your head.
Today’s the day I’ve been waiting for
Tomorrow won’t come after all
Yesterday is so far away
And today is the only day
Somebody please stop the clock
Oh oh oh
Don’t ever let this day stop
Oh oh oh
I never wanna go home
No no no oh oh oh
Have you heard the song yet? What are your thoughts on the new Ellen theme song?
Thanks for reading.
