It has been two years since Gavin James has released new music and his new releases are filling the empty void in my heart. Gavin James has provided many moments of comfort in a life that I often feel lost in. Though his music takes on a more somber tone, his soft tone and passionate lyrics make a for a wonderful listening experience.
However, his latest release is more love song and less crying-into-your-pillow sadness. “The Middle” came as a wonderful surprise, I didn’t realize he had released a new song until I was listening to a random playlist on Spotify and suddenly I’m swaying at my desk with a smile on my face.
I feel you in my bones, oh oh oh
From my head down to my toes, oh oh oh
And I know it’s a long way down
While we’re caught in between
Won’t you stay in the middle with me?
As much as I liked how much I related to Gavin’s sadness, I appreciate his sweet and loving maybe even more than the heartbreaking. His voice is tender and even when he’s breaking your heart, his voices cradles all the broken pieces; so hearing his voice in a loving sense makes it all completely better.
“The Middle” is a wonderful love song that makes it way too easy to two-step into happiness. If this new content is any indication of what his next album will sound like, then I am absolutely ready to listen to it all.
Listen to “The Middle” and come back here to tell me what you thought …
