Here it is, the first Music Monday blog post of 2019 and I’ll warn that I’m writing this after watching the Golden Globes so I’m a bit worked up. I mean, Bohemian Rhapsody for Best Drama? It’s as if the Hollywood Foreign Press didn’t watch any of the other contenders. I digress.
The motivation of the New Year is hanging on strong on this second week of 2019 and I couldn’t be happier about that. When choosing the song that I would kick off the year with, it felt like an easy choice. I chose a song that helped me power through the second half of 2018. I chose a song that helped me find my strength all while introducing me to a wonderful artist.
“The Breakup Song” by Francesca Battistelli is a breath of fresh air.
Fear, you don’t own me
There ain’t no room in this story
And I ain’t got time for you
Telling me what I’m not
Like you know me well guess what?
I know who I am
I know I’m strong
And I am free
Got my own identity
So fear, you will never be welcome here
Fear has dominated the better part of my life and I think it’s about time, we go our separate ways. Failure is a life lesson and I’m tired of putting off dreams for the fear of things not going the right way. So here we are, doing and trying to succeed in a life that seems determined to push me down.
Francesca has perfectly captured the feeling of finding your own strength with this song. Her voice is a magical vessel for this message to hit your ears and I promise you’ll be calling “The Breakup Song” your life anthem in no time.
Anyone else feeling like they can conquer the world? No? Just listen to “The Breakup Song” and I promise that you’ll get the feeling in no time.
