The planets are for sure conspiring against me.
I know that we’re all struggling and I know that we all feel like we’re alone in this, but here’s your reminder that you’re not.
I promise that I’m holding on to the tiny joys in life. Trust me, there’s a white-knuckled grip on every little tiny joy that has graced my life in the last couple of weeks. The thing is though, I am utterly depressed; a combination of isolation and regular shmegular life problems has caused a real dip in my mood. I have both given in and fought the feeling throughout this past week and I gotta say, Spotify has come through for me yet again.
You can listen to a song 1,000 times and you’ll find new meaning to it by the 1,0001 time. The shuffle Gods were with me three days ago when Sara Bareilles’ “Orpheus” came on. Sara Bareilles, once again, beautifully crafted words of comfort to live my life by.
Tell me this song isn’t the pandemic’s anthem.
Sara has a way of writing and singing where her songs feel like the warmest of hugs during the worst of your times and “Orpheus” is exactly that. There is a comfort that I find in Sara’s music that cannot be properly described. Even in her saddest songs do I find life lessons that will get me through the darkness. She is such a gift and it is a privilege to be aware of her music.
So my gift to you during these Quarantimes is a song that will help get you through the darkness. This song will not serve as a solution to your problems but I promise that it makes for a perfect companion during the struggle.
Here’s to better days!
