It’s been a few days since I got to experience the movie, La La Land and I’m still as obsessed as when I first stepped out of the movie theatre. My expectations for the movie were high and yet, it emotionally knocked it out of the park. I’ve never seen a movie that immediately gave me the need to create. It inspired and motivated me, it gave me the urge to write something that will make people feel, the way I felt while watching this movie. THE HYPE IS REAL!
However, today isn’t about the movie; though I could discuss it for hours, today I want to talk about the music. The music that captured my attention within the first 30 seconds of the movie, the Soundtrack for this movie is more than enough to inspire and motivate. Every single piece of music was magical; from the jazz influence, to the sweet melodies in transition scenes, to the modern touch, to the inspiring lyrics and wrap it up with Ryan and Emma’s voice – you have yourself a Soundtrack that will be replayed non-stop.
The stand-out song, was the one that spoke to the quietest parts of my heart; “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)”, which was performed by the spectacular Emma Stone. This song caught my emotions off guard; it’s a monologue which transitions into a powerful life anthem. Emma Stone had my heart in my throat the entire time and the ease in which she sings each word is what had me enamored the entire time. This is the song that I want playing when I’m walking up to accept my Oscar for Best Screenplay.
Here’s to the ones who dream,
foolish as they may seem.
Here’s to the hearts that ache.
Here’s to the mess we make.
Right now, my dreams seem bigger than myself and in Los Angeles I am surrounded by talented humans attempting to make it. This city can knock you down as quickly as it builds you up, so at times, it can be overwhelming to even consider dreaming. Yet, this movie has me jotting down my dreams and attempting to make them a reality. “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” has been playing non-stop in my head and I don’t ever want this feeling to fade. So, go watch this movie! Your dream doesn’t have to be in the entertainment industry, this movie is bound to inspire you no matter where your dream will be taking you. Have fun!
Personally, I’ve been playing the Soundtrack for most of my days and I could feel it getting a magical Screenplay out of me. Have fun! I’ll see you in a few days, I have an Oscar waiting for me.
A bit of madness is key
To give us new colors to see
Who knows where it will lead us?
And that’s why they need us
So bring on the rebels
The ripples from pebbles
The painters, and poets, and plays
