Admittedly, I had already written a “Music Monday” post for the week but then Johnnyswim decided to release a new single and now I’ve replayed it 7 times in a row. There was no way I would begin the week without sharing “Bridges” with you all.
I’m surprised this hasn’t turned into a Johnnyswim Fan Club website, since I’ve definitely written enough posts praising them (here, here and here) but this still remains a Julie blog. Though that doesn’t mean that I’ll stop updating you on their music and concerts. So here we find ourselves, way past my bedtime listening to their new song for the 15th time in a row and attempting to form the sentences required to express to you how wonderful their new single is.
It truly is wonderful.
Amanda Sudano & Abner Ramirez have truly made an art out of creating life anthems and they hit it out of the park with “Bridges”. It’s the perfect songwriter-pop that they’ve become known for. It is full of positive affirmations, Amanda’s chilling vocals and Abner’s subtle vocal runs. The song is everything that’s made them successful with an extra flare of magical musicianship that truly makes “Bridges” shine. The song comes out of their upcoming third studio album, Moonlight, which drops on April 19th … and consider me officially excited.
I discovered Johnnyswim a few years ago when they were opening for Emeli Sande and it has been a passionate (one-sided) love affair ever since. I have been around for the release of both of their previous albums and they have yet to disappoint.
This Music Monday deserves to begin with “Bridges” by Johnnyswim, so listen and come back to tell me how much you loved it.
