I know it sounds insane to say, but I have officially witnessed Allen Stone live eight beautiful times. You would think that I would find his show repetitive by now, but I find myself finding new meaning to his music and his message every single time. Not only that, but his show feels completely different every magical time. This particular concert, my best friend and I made a mini-vacation out of the event (more on that on Tuesday) and it was absolutely worth it. We traveled to San Francisco to witness Allen Stone at the Regency Ballroom and he somehow still made a venue in a different city feel like home.
The couple standing next to me was about to witness Allen Stone for the first time and as I reassured them that they were in for a hell of a ride, the lights dimmed and the party was just about to get started. His crowd is as eclectic as his musical sound; older couples, parents with children younger than six, groups of friends, solo travelers and best friends ready for a good time were all in attendance and Allen Stone did not disappoint.
He made us dance, he made us sing, he made us scream, he made us laugh and he made us cry (ask my best friend, she got extremely emotional at one point). This man is the real deal and his expression on stage shows us just how much he enjoys what he is doing. The magic of it all is not lost on him and maybe that’s what makes him so damn special. He is appreciative as he thanks the crowd multiple times throughout the show. He is humble as he continues to be shocked that his shows sell out. He is as talented as they come as he riffs ,belts and does the kind of vocal acrobatics that I didn’t know were possible.
The night consisted of the new (“Brown Eyed Lover”), the old (“Freedom”), the music we haven’t heard yet (“Give You Blue”) and the classic (“Unaware”). His heart is left on that stage and his soul is sprinkled throughout every moment of the concert, I dare you to attend his show and not leave wanting to conquer the world. His soulful vocals are what captures your entire attention but the upbeat music and energy coming from the band and Allen Stone himself, are what makes you an active participant during the show.
Find yourself someone who makes you feel the way Allen Stone makes you feel. Find yourself someone who actively reminds you of the goodness in the world. Find yourself someone who makes you dance like nobody is watching. Find yourself someone who makes you feel like the sun is shining from your heart. Find yourself someone who leaves you in awe when they open their mouth. Watching Allen Stone live is a magical experience and I feel it necessary to experience in order to survive this chaotic world.
Allen Stone and his music are the reason why I fell in love with music and now I urge you to find the happiness he can bring to you. His tour is only a few dates in, check out his website to find out if he’s coming to a city near you.
