UK based soul singer Mi’das just released his newest single “Feels Like Only Yesterday” and I am currently playing it for the 23rd time. It’s always a bit stressful for me, when I am asked to listen to a new artist. What if I don’t like them? What if I can’t think of one nice thing to say? Thankfully the nice things will just keep coming for Mi’das.
“Feels Like Only Yesterday” makes you feel like you’re in a completely different time. When the song begins (if you listen closely) you can hear what sounds like a cassette being played and the song begins with Mi’das’ soulful vocals. “Feels Like Only Yesterday” was produced by Nathan Williams and though the music seems upbeat, the song itself contains a deeper message. The guitar riffs are enough to transport you back in time, to a moment in your life where youthful innocence was present and the stress of adulthood seemed light-years away. The song, showcases an influence from Mr. Stevie Wonder while the lyrics give you a hint of nostalgia and the music behind the song just make you want to dance in your car.
This is an artist you are going to want to make note of. His voice alone is enough to get your attention but add to that the genuine songwriting and his piercing blue eyes (yes I said piercing); and you have yourself a recipe for success. This is the kind of artist that you need to invest in; new enough to be the new artist you share with your friends but experienced enough that you’ll have a difficult time finding a bad song in any of his previous EP’s. I promise no disappointment will be felt if you decide to venture into the Mi’das music world. So GO, listen to the song! You can come back and thank me later.
