Disclaimer: This review is being written by someone who, before Life, had never seen a Sci-Fi movie.

I liked it.
For me, the movie felt like an intense ride full of anxiety, stress and frustration. Though some bits were fairly predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Rebecca Ferguson balanced a strong confident woman with the vulnerability that was needed in certain scenes. Ryan Reynolds … I actually feel like Ryan Reynolds wasn’t even given a script. Maybe the director was like, “Just do your thing and we’ll work around it”. Jake Gyllenhaal showed a beautiful range of emotions and he continues to impress me; did you actually think I would say something negative about Jake Gyllenhaal?
Within the film there is a beautiful lesson about how maybe we should think twice before reacting to something we don’t know or understand. Again, I say that I am new to the Sci-Fi genre and the main reason why I stayed away from it is because it felt too unrealistic to me (maybe my imagination is lacking). So, it was nice to connect to a film in a genre that I usually shy away from.
I watched the movie with two of my friends and … they didn’t love it. I mean, they didn’t hate it but since they’ve seen other Sci-Fi thrillers they found it to be predictable. I still say you should go watch it but it’s your life and I can’t tell you what to do! 🙂
