The good vibes are back and we have Jason Mraz to thank for that.
Jason Mraz just released his new single “Have It All” and a smile has been permanently displayed on my face since the first time I heard it. If I’m being honest, I was a bit hesitant to listen to this new Mraz song. The truth is (and this is coming from a die-hard Jason Mraz fan) that I found his last album, Yes! to be … underwhelming.
I said it and I meant it.
Look Jason Mraz and his music came into my life in 2012, when my life was in shambles and I desperately needed a life raft. His song “I Won’t Give Up” literally saved my life, but that’s a story for another time; the thing is, I’ve been a devoted fan ever since (really, I have a tattoo on my arm that reminds me of how much his music means to me). The point being, I fell in love with his feel-good vibes that felt like summertime wrapped in a song so his subtle and gentle vibes on Yes! were a bit too mellow for me; but I completely understand how artists must change and play with sound in order to grow as musicians. Though the truth is; I’ve been patiently waiting for Jason to go back to his roots and I am so glad it’s finally happened.
It’s as if he knows exactly what I need to hear and when I need to hear it.
Well, here’s to the hearts that you gonna break
Here’s to the lives that you gonna change
Here’s to the infinite possible ways to love you
I want you to have it
Here’s to the good times we gonna have
You don’t need money, you’ve got free pass
Here’s to the fact that I’ll be sad without you
I want you to have it all
“Have It All” is the uplifting-acoustic-pop-anthem that I needed in my life. Mraz has always been a master at creating motivational pep talks and this song is the perfect inspiration that I needed. The joyous chorus, the passionate long notes, the quick verses; the song is reminiscent of “I’m Yours” and all of its feel-good glory. Jason Mraz is back and my Mraz-loving heart can barely take the excitement!
