There’s a special kind of joy that fills your heart when you discover a new artist and you’re about to feel that joy right after you read this post and seek out the EP I’ll be discussing.
Naida Lynn is a Haitian-American singer-songwriter with a soulful voice that pulls you in and lyrics that feel completely relatable. Her latest EP, Freedom Rose began as a journey with the band she had formed, which has since disbanded. The songs needed to be reworked and the path to this EP had to be discovered within the deviation of her dreams. Naida gives you an insight to that process within the EP.

Between each song are interludes that give you a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing these songs to life. Within these interludes, we get an insight as to how Raf (drummer) and Colin (guitarist) helped bring these songs to life.
Though clearly influenced by Jazz, which is evident in her lead single “Shipwrecked”, this EP refuses to stick to one genre. There’s a song for every mood. Whether you’re feeling particularly stuck in a situation, whether you’re feeling unsatisfied in your current romantic situation or whether you’re feeling optimistic about the future; Freedom Rose will find its home with you. Naida’s voice is such a gorgeous and passionate vessel for the messages she shares in this EP.
“Stop Yesterday” demands the right kind of love. The drums in this song lead the way for me and it’s easily one of my favorite tracks on the EP. The deep and lower notes are where her magic is at and you definitely hear that in the soulful closing track, “Sound of my Dreams”. In this song she takes her time with the message and you hear her passion within every single note. I dare you to not get goosebumps while listening to it.

Don’t just take my word for it; listen to Naida Lynn’s EP, Freedom Rose and make your 2020 just a little bit sweeter.
