I have witnessed some legendary concerts in my time, but I always had a dream to see Alejandro Fernandez live. I have been trying to see him live for a few years now and thanks to my work wife, Alex, my dream finally became a reality and it was absolutely magical.
This man exudes magic from the moment he steps foot on to that stage. I arrived to The Forum in Los Angeles with high expectations and a heart full of excitement; add a couple of drinks and I was ready for an extraordinary night. Alejandro is currently on his Rompiendo Fronteras tour with Los Tigres del Norte (my father was extremely jealous) and though my knowledge of Tigres songs is limited, I still found myself standing, dancing and singing (sorry people in front of us) for most of the time.
I wish I could bottle up the happiness in my heart from that night and distribute it to all of you because truly, every time I think about it I find myself smiling from ear-to-ear.
He kicked off the night with “Me Dedique a Perderte” and it was an extraordinary ride through his discography from that moment on. The show felt like a dedication to his fans; a set full of old and newer songs with a Mariachi band accompanying for the second half of his show. It felt like a love letter to the fans who made it out to see him.
So this is my love letter to Alejandro; a man who I have listened to since I was a little girl and who I have slowly fallen in love with (in a normal, non-threatening way). His power as a musician is evident once you glance over his many albums but it’s the heart that he places in every song that truly make a difference. His pop ballads are romantic and heartbreaking while his songs that are accompanied by Mariachi feel mature and rooted in his vocals.
You could feel the power of his voice on your chest while he sang inside The Forum. We’re not naive here, we are well aware of the pesky rumors that have surrounded Alejandro Fernandez lately but I am here to say that he is still a magnificent performer. He left his heart on that stage on Sunday and I appreciate him for it. I attended the show with a lot of expectations, I’ll admit to being a little nervous of his capabilities. I mean, I had been looking forward to this show since my birthday and I was afraid that he would disappoint. I am happy to say that he exceeded all expectations.
It was a night that I truly will never forget and I am so grateful for my work wife and her romantic birthday presents. xx
Quick shout out to Los Tigres del Norte who are amazing performers in their own right.
